Review:
Both Sophia and Annie are different from regular
people. Even though Annie is blind, she sees visions of the future and Fia's
(Sophia) instincts are never wrong. The first ever vision Annie saw was of her
own parents' fiery death in a car crash. Later that night it came true. The
girls are sent to live with their mother's half sister Ellen. Ellen never
wanted to be a mother, and didn't like having to put her life on hold. Two
years later when a boarding school for students with disabilities offers Annie
a scholarship, Aunt Ellen jumps at the chance to get rid of one of the girls.
Annie is hesitant to go until they offer Fia a spot at the school. Once they
get there the girls learn that it's not a school, it's a training ground for
girls with physic powers. Sophia is forced to become their assassin. If
she fails, they will kill Annie.
This book was a delightful read, and I couldn't
put it down. The plot flows easily and no part of it drags. The book switches
back and forth between Annie and Sophie or Fia as she is called. This was a
smart move by the author because it helps develop both of their characters, and
it also helps to reinforce how different their lives are. The book also will
skip back and forth between the present and two, five, and even ten years ago.
It could have easily made the book confusing, but somehow the author avoids
this trap. The book is so full of plot twists that it can be hard to put it
down. You find yourself not expecting a lot of the twists. The ending
especially will throw you for a loop and leave you dying to read the sequel.
Rating: 4.5/5 stars
I loved this book! I enjoyed the sister dynamic between the characters, and I loved how fast-paced it was. Such a thrilling ride that never slowed down. I can't wait to read Perfect Lies! :)
